  2.                     Darklands Version 7 Sound Update
  3.  
  4. This sound update can actually be used on all versions of Darklands, not
  5. just 7. Before installing the new files, you may want to save the old ones.
  6. The files changed are:

  8.     PSOUND.DLC                      (the OPL-3 sound driver)
  9.     RSOUND.DLC                      (the Roland sound driver)
  10.     INSTALL.EXE                     (the install program)
  11.     README.SND                      (this file)
  12.  
  13. To install:
  14.  
  15.     CD \MPS\DARKLAND                (or wherever you put it)
  16.     PKUNZIP B:DRKSND.ZIP            (or whatever drive you have it on)

  19. Changes are as follows:
  20.  
  21.     1. Gold Sound Standard boards (AdLib Gold, Cardinal Sound Studio, etc)
  22.        are now supported in native OPL-3 mode both alone, and with Roland.
  23.        Gold Sound Standard now appears in the install program under "Change
  24.        hardware options". You may need to run the new install program. When
  25.        setting the DMA parameters, the address choices are irrelevant and
  26.        are ignored. The driver assumes the board is at 388h.

  28.     2. Roland + Sound Blaster (or other DMA board, including the Gold
  29.        boards) option now works again. This option worked in versions 5 & 6,
  30.        but was broken in version 7. It is now fixed again. See the game
  31.        readme file for instructions on dual board use.
